Youth Protection Training (YPT) for Adult Leaders

Why is this important? A current Youth Protection Training (YPT) status means you’ve learned best practice in protecting our scouting children. Also, Scouts BSA requires that all volunteer leaders (for example, pack and den leaders and parent committee members) have a current YPT status in order to continue to charter our pack. Recharter is this fall.

To check your YPT status:.
  1. Go to https://my.scouting.org and log in. If you use Scoutbook, use the same login name and password.
  2. Click on Menu, then My Training.
  3. You'll see a section called Youth Protection Training Certification, which shows expiration date of your YPT status. If it has not expired, congratulations!

However, if you do not see a date here, if your status is expired, or if your status is about to expire, please take the training. It's a series of short online videos, totaling around an hour. This may sound like a long time, but your YPT status is good for 2 years. Here is a step-by-step guide: https://my.scouting.org/Documents/YptGuidance.pdf
If you are not able to check your YPT status, please email the Cubmaster or Parent Committee Chair. In case you do not have convenient access to the internet at home, the Village and Northwest Public Libraries have internet computers you can use for free. If you have recently gone through the training but your status has not been updated, please forward the Cubmaster or Parent Committee Chair the completion certificate and we'll try to update it for you. If you have these or any other difficulties, please contact us. We’ll do our best to help. Thank you for your service to our scouts!
